Tomoya Okazaki is a third year high school student who dislikes his life. Everything seems to be unchanging for his school life until he meets Nagisa, and Tomoya finds that his life is about to change.
Tomoya's mother died when he was young, leaving him to be raised by his father alone. After the accident, Tomoya's father turned to alcohol and gambling, and they used to argue all the time. However, one day in a fight, his father slammed him against the wall, dislocating Tomoya's shoulder. Ever since then, his father started treating Tomoya nicely, but distantly, as if Tomoya and he were strangers instead of family. This hurt Tomoya more than constantly fighting, and the awkwardness of returning home led to Tomoya's constant desire to stay out all night. In addition, due to the injury, Tomoya couldn't play in the basketball club anymore and quit his school activities. In this way, his deliquent life began.

Throughout the game, the player as Tomoya has dreams of a bleak world. At first, he just looks in on this world which is devoid of all people, except for one girl. The player never sees this girl, but is told about her. Each time he returns to this world, he finds out more about it. The girl has the ability to fuse junk together in to create things, and doing so, creates a body out of junk for him. He is then reborn into this empty world and follows around the girl, the only two existences who are "alive".
As the game progresses, more of the story is unveiled. To pass time, the junk doll and the girl go searching for more junk to build things with. They try to create another doll, but as it has no soul, it cannot come to life. Eventually, though, winter sets in, and the girl becomes cold to the point where she cannot move any more. Remembering a distant world where he came from, the junk doll tries to convince the girl to build a ship out of junk so that the two of them could escape the winter and live together happily. However, their flight was doomed to meet tragedy. |

| Hikaru and Haruhi are out on a date when they bump into Haruhis old friend, Arai. Hikaru, being somewhat unable to control his jealousy, yells at then before storming off, leaving Haruhi behind.
Then a thunderstorm erupts and Hikaru seeks shelter from under a tree, thinking back at the date and Haruhi. The rest of the Host Club learns from Arai that Haruhi ran after Hikaru shortly before the rain started pouring and do not know where she is. Tamaki calls Hikaru on his cellphone, scolding him for being insensitive and for leaving Haruhi behind. He then tells Hikaru that Haruhi in fact is afraid of thunder, before hanging up.
Hikaru is in a state of disbelief before becoming angry at Haruhi for not telling him about her fears. Then he remembers that she gave him hints and clues during the date and becomes angry at himself for not understanding, still being angry at Haruhi for not telling him straight out.
He runs out to find her. |

Time and Lady Gwen |
| I recently upgraded my video editing software to Premiere Elements 3.0, after working with version 1.0 for nearly two years. Its an amazing upgrade, which allows me to work with unconverted DVD files (new guide coming soon about how to do this!). As a result, Ive been able to produce videos of a much higher visual quality, and this is my first effort with the new software. It has made the output files about twice the size of the old versions, though, but the clarity of the pictures make it worth it, IMHO!
The music is a first for me too - an instrumental piece by Clannad, it mixes two of my fandoms in a somewhat strange way. Its a gentle, harp-driven piece which has a recurrent central motif, and, in stark contrast to the footage, it evokes romance and dreams. Unsurprisingly, the music is from Robin of Sherwood, and Im not sure what RoS or Torchwood fans will think of the combination - possibly there might be some raised eyebrows! ;) Feel free to tell me, I can take it!
After watching End of Days, the taut, emotional climax of Torchwood, I felt compelled to make a video about it, and my first thought was to do an ensemble piece, as there is so much emotion in the episode, I wanted to capture it. However, I was lost for a song, and when Lady Marian occurred to me, it seemed far better suited to Jack and Gwen (quelle surprise!). They share so many glances, touches and looks in the episode, and its Gwen who holds the key to Jacks fate at the end, believing in him all the way.
I wanted to add a kind of narrative in this vid - that of Gwens awareness of time, and how time is running out for both her and Jack; that they need to just be reconciled to what they mean to one another. Hence the inclusion of the superimposed clocks, which I was very pleased with. John Barrowman and Eve Myles put in such stunning performances in End of Days that it was easy to tell the story. I hope its as easy to interpret! |

On the Hiking Trail (pt. 1): THE RUNE TREASURE |
| I go hiking in the dense forest of the Putberg, here in the South of the Netherlands, where once the Cretacious Sea was and Romans dug for stones.
I almost made a fatal fall, yet it was definitely worth it, because... it made me discover a real TREASURE! An unbelievable story!
Note: this video was entirely filmed with my Nokia phone cam which only records in 177x144 res. So it is blown up automatically, losing quality. Alas!

For me, Now Is Here is a love song about Robin & Marion.It also has a sadness about it and it was used to great effect, especially when Robin of Loxley sacrifices himself to save the Marion & the group. I wanted to try and show the love and friendship between Robin and the group but also hint that the video is about saying "Goodbye", a bit like the flaming arrow tributes used in the show. I have no more completed Robin videos to upload (this one was finished in 2005,just before I became a Dad!)Will get back to working on the others one day soon. The beginning of the tune suggests that a battle is coming and there is a feeling of apprehension looming. Then the tune kicks in with a great rhythm as the fight begins! So well written by Clannad and always worked so well in the show. Completed this video in 2004 and tried to time the images to the music. Hope it doesnt go out of sync when its uploaded. Sorry if it does!
